A Taste of Thailand is now open on Buckshaw

As many of the residents on Buckshaw Village will have seen, the former Shanti Lounge unit on Barnes Wallis Way has being undergoing a bit of change recently.

A Taste of Thailand has landed on Buckshaw and we can’t wait to try it!

Following the success of their Preston Restaurant, the family-run business led by Rick and Alicia will be opening its doors on the 27th November 2020. We recently caught up with Alicia to ask her a few questions and find out more about herself and the Bar & Takeaway.

But why Buckshaw & why now?

“Well this all started with my Mum, Sumalee who’s Thai herself and has instilled this cuisine in me since I was born and I’ve fallen in love with everything around it.

We as a team believe in making everything as authentic as possible. All of our herbs and spices are imported directly from Thailand and all of the sauces we use in our food are made from scratch.

The food we will be offering customers will not only be fresh and made to order but we will be using the recipes and methods my family have used for generations.

Rick and I have lived on Buckshaw Village for 3 years and so it was sad to see the Shanti Lounge close but we soon saw this as an opportunity for our brand to expand.

We both absolutely love the community spirit on Buckshaw and how welcoming and supportive everyone is.

When building our team, we have kept this both local and where possible experienced in how proper Thai food should taste!

There’s no better example than that of our Award Winning Head Chef, Yiam Dokpudsha who has over 25 years experience cooking in a number of 5* hotels in Thailand and leading Thai restaurants across the UK.

What’s the plan for the Bar & Takeaway now as well as going forward?

“Initially we will be opening from 5pm until 10.30pm Tuesday - Saturday and then from 4.30pm until 9.30pm on Sundays and offering a delivery service as well during these times. Our Menu will also cater for a number of dietary requirements including Vegan, Vegetarian & Coeliac.

We are in the process of looking at developing a lunchtime service to keep our local residents filled up throughout the day, as well as offering Bubble Tea & Ice Cream Rolls during the Summer, so we’d love to hear your thoughts on all of that.

We aim at all times to provide amazing tasting food, but even if you just fancy a drink, when restrictions allow, we’ve a fully licensed bar with some amazing deals, and will even be offering Thai inspired cocktails - they’re so good!

I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone that has helped us get to where we are today, especially my mum. Without her knowledge none of this would be possible, so we really hope to see and meet you all very soon.”

If you’d like to try the village’s latest eatery, they can be found at 11 Barnes Wallis Way, Buckshaw Village, PR7 7JA.

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish Alicia, Rick, Sumalee and all the team at A Taste of Thailand every success in their new venture from all their Friends of Buckshaw Village.

Good Luck / Chokh dī
