Once again Friends of Buckshaw Village in conjunction with Buckshaw Village Church organised a shoebox collection, and would like to say a huge thank you to every single person who has participated and filled shoeboxes for children around the world who are much less fortunate than our own.
We would also like to say a huge thank you to Buckshaw Costa for once again being a drop off point for shoeboxes, which is incredibly helpful to people returning their filled shoeboxes.
Millions of children around the world don’t receive anything at Christmas or at any other time of the year. Poverty, fleeing war torn countries, natural disasters or being orphaned are at the heart of many of these cases. This is where your generosity makes such a massive difference. Since 1990, Operation Christmas Child has delivered shoeboxes to more than 146 million children in over 150 countries. Each and every contribution will make a child smile this Christmas.
We have once again had a phenomenal response. Last year over 140 shoeboxes were donated, but this year you’ve done even more! We’re delighted to confirm that over 200 shoeboxes have been received so far, and they were still arriving as we went to print! We’ll let you know the final total in next month’s issue.
Our village never fails to astound us with its generosity and kindness. This really is a fantastic place to live!
Don’t forget that if you’ve donated towards the transportation costs online and put your barcode in the box, you can find out which country your box has been sent to.
Thank you so much to everyone who has donated to this years Shoebox Appeal. You have helped to make someone’s Christmas that bit more special!
